Structured into the following modules:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Achieve optimal skills in the dental, medical and oral surgical management of adult and pediatric patients, with special attention to the patient with systemic comorbidities of various nature.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
The student will perform the role of a primary caregiver from a management and clinical point of view, applying the knowledge acquired and under supervision in the different disciplines included within the integrated course.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT:
The student will be able to frame and diagnose different clinical pictures and apply the most suitable therapeutic approaches.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Acquisition of communication and problem-solving skills toward both patient and family members, clinical mentors and colleagues.
LEARNING SKILLS:
The student will be expected to demonstrate the ability to manage the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of clinical cases in the adult and pediatric patient.
Knowledge of anatomy, general and oral physiology, general and special odontostomatological pathology, internal medicine, pharmacology.
In order to take the examination, the student must have passed the following integrated courses included in the study plan: C.I. Odontostomatological Disciplines 1 (4th year), C.I. Odontostomatological Disciplines 2 (4th year), C.I. Odontostomatological Disciplines 3, C.I. Special Odontostomatological Pathology, C.I. Oral and General Surgery, C.I. Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, C.I. Maxillofacial Pathology and Therapy, C.I. Implantology.
The contents of the integrated course concern the odontostomatological management of the patient in the following disciplines: preventive and community dentistry, endodontics, conservative dentistry, paediatric dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery.
To acquire this knowledge, the student will carry out internship activities in all disciplines covered by the modules of the integrated course.
Main reference texts of the basic and specialised dental disciplines adopted by the individual module lecturers.
Scientific articles on major search engines and national/international guidelines.
The programme covers the clinical application of the basic notions acquired by the student during the courses in preventive and community dentistry, endodontics, conservative dentistry, paediatric dentistry, orthodontics and oral surgery.
The topics covered during the theoretical lectures and preclinical training will be taken up, applied and analysed from a clinical point of view.
Frontal lessons and clinical internship at the S.C. Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery and Odontostomatology of the Maggiore Hospital and the Odontostomatology Clinic of IRCSS Burlo Garofolo.
Lecture recordings of the Dental Clinic 1 module will be available on the Teams platform.
The examination is oral and unique for all modules and focuses on clinical questions related to the programme of the C.I. teaching.
The grade is defined by assessing knowledge and understanding (25%), ability to apply knowledge and understanding (25%), autonomy of judgement (15%), communication skills (15%) and learning ability (20%), in relation to the basic concepts of the framing, diagnosis and treatment of oro-maxillo-facial pathologies.
Single final grade for the C.I.
The evaluation grid adopted is as follows:
- Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): excellent knowledge of the subject matter, excellent ownership of language, excellent analytical ability; the student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Very good (27 - 29): good knowledge of the subject matter, remarkable command of language, good analytical ability; the student is able to apply theoretical knowledge correctly to concrete cases.
- Good (24-26): good knowledge of the main topics, fair language skills; the student shows an adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main topics of the course, even though he/she possesses the fundamental knowledge; however, he/she shows satisfactory properties of language and sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main teaching topics and technical language, limited ability to apply theoretical knowledge adequately to concrete cases.
- Insufficient: the student does not possess acceptable knowledge of the content of the various topics in the syllabus.
This teaching explores topics closely related to one or more of the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
