Syllabus

The student should show mastery of related knowledge:
- Objective examination of a patient with TMD issues
- Collection of records necessary for diagnosis
- Discussion of the clinical case with lecturer
- Communication with the patient
- Counseling maneuvers
- Management of relaxation splints

Expected learning outcomes (Dublin descriptors)
Knowledge and Understanding:
The student has the specific knowledge to perform an objective examination of a subject with a problem with a gnathological origin. He/she will be able to organically gather the records necessary to make a correct diagnosis.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
The student will be able to perform a correct and comprehensive objective examination of the head and neck region in addition to applying the main techniques for the management of temporomandibular dysfunction, particularly in the parts related to counseling but also to the clinical management of muscle relaxation appliances.
Autonomy of judgment:
The student should be able to evaluate diagnostic records to be able to make a correct diagnosis and draw up a consonant treatment program.
Communication skills:
The student shall have the ability to interface with colleagues and managers and the patient with orofacial pain and to communicate the main and fundamental behavioral norms in TMD.
Learning skills:
The student is able to acquire information from the scientific literature to keep up-to-date regarding therapeutic techniques of joint problems.
