The aim of the course is to provide basic guidance on the use of dentistry concepts in the forensic context.
In particular:
D1 Knowledge and ability to understand: At the end of the course, the student should have acquired the basic notions of the subject taught.
D2 Ability to apply knowledge and skills: At the end of the course, the student should be able to interpret a text relating to the subjects studied and undertake practical tests.
D3 Autonomy of judgement. At the end of the course, the student can autonomously evaluate a practical case or a scientific article.
D4 Communication skills: At the end of the course, the student must demonstrate that they can present the knowledge acquired as per point 1) with accuracy and ownership of language.
D5 Learning ability: At the end of the course, the student must be able to independently find and understand legal and scientific updates on the subject.

The Forensic Dentistry (FD) syllabus is as follows:
Bite injuries;
personal identification in FD;
identification of sex, age, race; comparative DNA analysis; main analytical methods; overlapping skull-photo;
reference databases; software used; final judgement criteria.
frontal teaching; laboratory.
Power point presentations related to the teaching units can be found on the Microsoft Teams platform.
Learning will be assessed by oral examination (at least two questions). Assessments will be as follows:
-Excellent (30 -30 cum laude): very good knowledge of the topics, very good ownership of language, very good analytical ability; the student/you is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
-Very good (27 -29): good knowledge of topics, remarkable language property, good analytical ability; the student/ess is able to correctly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
-Good (24-26): good knowledge of main topics, fair language property; the student/ess shows adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
-Satisfactory (21-23): the student/ess does not show full mastery of the topics main topics of the teaching, although he/she possesses the fundamental knowledge; however, he/she shows satisfactory ownership of language and sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
-Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main topics of the teaching and of the
technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
-Insufficient (<18): the student(s) does not possess acceptable content knowledge of the various program topics.
This teaching contributes to the realisation of the UN goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (points 3 and 16).
