Syllabus

D1. Knowing and understanding and have the ability to understand. At the end of the course the student must demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental principles of antibiotic therapy with particular regard to the main odontostomatological bacterial infections.
D2. Applying knowledge and understanding. At the end of the course the student must be able to apply the knowledge acquired in point D1 to solve clinical cases of odontostomatological infectious diseases.
D3. Making judgements. At the end of the course the student will have to be able to judge the most appropriate antibiotic therapy for a specific pathogen and for a specific patient.
D4. Communication skills: at the end of the course the student must be able to clearly explain the acquired concepts and be able to critically discuss the strategic choices based on the clinical questions proposed in the field of odontostomatological infections.
D5. Learning skills. At the end of the course the student must be able to independently explore the topics covered and must be able to transfer the notions learned in subsequent teachings.

Lectures with power-point slides

Examples from clinical practice will be illustrated and discussed

The student's assessment includes an oral test, in which open questions on infectious diseases are proposed. The student will have to demonstrate that he is able to demonstrate properties of infectious disease culture and clinical reasoning.
The score of the exam is attributed by means of a vote expressed out of thirty. For
pass the exam (18/30) the student must demonstrate that he has acquired knowledge
enough arguments. To achieve the maximum score (30/30 cum laude), the student
instead, he must demonstrate that he has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course.
The marking grid adopted is as follows:
- Excellent (30 - 30 with distinction): excellent knowledge of the topics, excellent analytical ability; the student is able to apply theoretical knowledge brilliantly to concrete cases.
- Very good (27 - 29): good knowledge of the subject matter, good analytical ability; the student is able to apply theoretical knowledge correctly to concrete cases.
theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Good (24-26): good knowledge of the main topics, the student shows an adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main topics of the course, although possessing the fundamental knowledge; however, he/she shows sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to
concrete cases.
- Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main topics of the course, limited ability to apply theoretical knowledge adequately to concrete cases.
- Insufficient: The student does not possess acceptable knowledge of the content of the various topics in the syllabus.

This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
