Structured into the following modules:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: At the end of the course, students must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of
key concepts and fundamental principles on which endodontic, periodontal and fixed prosthetic diagnosis and therapy are based and to know the healing processes.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: At the end of the course the students will have to know how to apply the principles and diagnostic tools of Endodontics, Periodontology and Fixed Prosthesis; in particular for Endodontics they will have to know how to do simple root canal treatment and endodontic retreatment of mono and multi-rooted teeth and be able to manage complex cases organizationally; for Periodontology to be able to evaluate the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases and the need for periodontal treatment of patients suffering from systemic diseases; for the prosthesis knowing how to implement therapeutic choices based on the local and general clinical picture.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT: students must be able to collect and interpret clinically relevant data.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: students should be able to communicate information, ideas and solutions to clinical problems to patients and colleagues.
ABILITY TO LEARN: students must demonstrate a sufficient degree of autonomy to undertake subsequent studies in a self-managed way.
Endodontics
Discuss, understand and make understand all the issues covered by the subject.
Having acquired manual skills in performing endodontic therapy with manual and rotary instruments.
At the end of the course the student must be able to correctly implement a therapy
endodontic on the basis of an equally correct diagnosis and must possess sufficient knowledge
to a critical and updated view of the subject.
Restorative dentistry
Discuss, understand and make understood postendodontic restorative problems.
At the end the student will be able to understand the issues discussed and independently make suitable post-endodontic restorer choices.
Periodontology 1
Knowledge and Understanding: At the end of the Course the student should be able to possess: 1-Knowledge of the basic biological principles of periodontal disease and healing processes. 2- Knowledge of periodontal pathology, the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases and the need for periodontal treatment of patients with systemic diseases. 3-Knowledge of the epidemiology of periodontal disease and the role of Periodontology 4- Knowledge of non-surgical periodontal therapy methods. 5- Clinical competence in the documentation, diagnosis and treatment plan of periodontal disease.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: To perform a correct periodontal diagnosis and plan a non-surgical periodontal treatment.
Autonomy of judgement: The completion of exercises and the ability to collect all periodontal variables independently.
Communication skills: To learn scientific vocabulary but also the ability to communicate in a simple way with the patient.
Learning ability: It will be tested within the framework of the various assessment methods provided.
Prosthesis 2
Have a systematic and rational approach to the diagnosis and therapy of oral rehabilitation with fixed prostheses on natural teeth, so as to be able to design and manufacture the most common prosthetic products.
Passing the Odontostomatological Disciplines 1 exam
Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry
Knowledge of anatomy, histology, pathophysiology. To get trough the course of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics during the first semester.
Periodontology 1
Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the stomatognathic system and etiopathogenetic knowledge of the most common internal medicine pathologies.
Prosthetic Dentistry 2
To know the chemical, physical and biological properties of dental materials used in restorative dentistry.
The integrated course examines the tooth, with the complete management of its endodontic, periodontal and conservative restorative and prosthetic problems.
From the endodontic point of view, the modern techniques of endodontic instrumentation, irrigation, medication and obturation are treated, considering the clinic and diagnosis of pulpal pathology and its complications and the surgical and orthograde management of therapeutic failures.
From a conservative point of view, the pre- and post-endodontic restoration is examined up to the borders with the Prosthesis, taking into account the biomechanics.
From the periodontal point of view, starting from anatomy and histology, physiology and microbiology, all the problems of periodontitis and its local and systemic implications are treated, in the light of the new international classification. The compilation of the periodontal file and the mechanical and manual instrumentation are also taught.
From the prosthetic point of view, the course provides for the teaching of a correct treatment plan from the first visit to the finalization of the simple and complex case in Fixed Prosthesis. Therefore, the preparation techniques of the abutments and the creation of veneers, crowns and bridges are treated, starting from the impression and arriving at the cementation of the prosthetic restoration, conceived according to function and aesthetics.

The teaching may include ongoing tests to verify the gradual and progressive learning of the three individual subjects and takes into account the practical works produced for Endodontics-Conservatives and Prosthetics. The final evaluation includes 3 tests, one for each subject, structured as follows:
Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry
1. written theoretical exam (31 multiple choice quizzes) on the topics covered
2. evaluation of practical works on extracted teeth (endodontic treatment and postendodontic restoration) and possibly on endobloc (mechanical instrumentation)
3. Oral discussion
The exam grade is expressed in thirtieths and derives from the weighted average of the tests listed, which must each be passed with at least 18/30. To obtain 30/30 with honors the student must have passed the exam with 31/31 and have demonstrated particular interests and theoretical and/or practical skills relevant to the subject.
The final grade of the module derives from the sum of the grades of the three Conservative and Endodontic tests.
Periodontology 1
Oral exam and discussion of a clinical case using a PowerPoint presentation. To obtain a grade of 30/30 with honors, the student must have demonstrated specific interests and skills relevant to the subject.
Prosthesis 2
Learning will be verified through a written and oral exam and a practical part at the end of the course. During the oral test, the level of knowledge and competence achieved by the student will be ascertained. Furthermore, the mastery of expressive tools and the correct understanding of the course contents will be assessed through general questions in response to which the student will have to demonstrate linguistic properties and reasoning skills by connecting the various topics presented during the course. The written part includes 31 multiple choice quizzes; with a score of 31 you can gain praise, which derives from the integration with the oral and practical tests.
After the partial tests have been carried out, the results of which will be published using the "Partial tests" tool provided by the Esse3 platform, a single final appeal is planned in which the Commission proceeds to verify the overall results of the integrated teaching and the related verbalization.
In the case of partial tests, in order to pass the exam relating to the teaching, the student must obtain an evaluation of ≥ 18 in each of the partial tests, he/she will not be able to refuse the result of the partial test, but only the grade of the entire integrated course and, in this case, he will have to repeat all the partial tests.
The Student must register for the online exam session on ESSE3. The grade of the partial test is valid until the extraordinary session of the academic year in question.
The final grade of the integrated course exam derives from the weighted average, therefore weighted on the CFU of each module, obtained in the individual partial tests. For the purposes of defining the average, the value of 1 point is attributed to any honors obtained in the partial tests, i.e. the grade of 30 and honors in the partial tests corresponds numerically to the score of 31. To attribute honors to the final exam grade , it will be necessary for the weighted average obtained by the student in the partial tests relating to the various modules to be >30.5.
