To provide basic knowledge and technical skills for the safe application of local anesthesia in dentistry.
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and general pharmacology.
The course introduces the basics of local anesthesia in dentistry, covering drugs, techniques, and instruments.
Tools and indications for local anesthesia and conscious sedation in dentistry.
Introduction to the general principles of local anesthesia and its role in dental procedures. Study of craniofacial anatomy with focus on the nerve pathways involved. Analysis of main local anesthetic drugs, their classification, mechanism of action, and metabolism. Techniques of infiltrative and nerve block anesthesia in the oral cavity, with practical indications and anatomical landmarks. Proper use of anesthesia instruments: syringes, needles, cartridges, and administration methods. Indications, contraindications, and precautions for safe and effective local anesthesia. Recognition and management of complications and emergencies related to local anesthesia. Basics of patient communication and obtaining informed consent. Practical applications and guided clinical simulations on models or in preclinical settinngs
