Introductory course on the contents of the three-year course. Definition of speech therapy. Historical overview of the evolution of the profession: from an ‘auxiliary’ profession to a ‘health’ profession with autonomy and responsibility. Core competences of the profession. Description of the speech therapist's professional competences. Areas of intervention: developmental age, adult age and geriatric age. Illustration of the possible operating contexts of the speech therapist.

Introductory course on the contents of the three-year course. Definition of speech therapy. Historical overview of the evolution of the profession: from an ‘auxiliary’ profession to a ‘health’ profession with autonomy and responsibility. Core competences of the profession: evaluation and assessment (observation, standardised and non-standardised instruments) care and rehabilitation, prevention, therapeutic education and adoption of aids with reference to evaluation. Work in multi-professional teams. Description of the professional competences of the speech therapist. Concept of health: WHO biopsychosocial model. Areas of intervention: childhood, adulthood and geriatric age. Operational contexts: hospital wards, hospital outpatient clinic, intensive rehabilitation, R.S.A., territorial outpatient clinic, home, school agencies, I.R.C.S., services for the developmental age.
Analysis of pre-knowledge, brainstorming related to certain key words, lectures, group discussions related to course content.
