KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course the student will demonstrate the basic knowledge and the ability to understand the key concepts and fundamental principles of mechanics and thermodynamics.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course the student will be able to apply the knowledge acquired for subsequent applications in the field of speech therapy.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
At the end of the course, the student will be able to recognize the basic concepts of mechanics and will be able to apply them in the analysis of cases of speech therapy interest.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
At the end of the course the student will be able to express themselves with language properties and exposure confidence on the basic themes of mechanics.
LEARNING ABILITY
At the end of the course the student will be able to apply the knowledge and skills described in this syllabus for subsequent applications in the field of speech therapy.

Basics of mathematics

Physical quantities. Principles of mechanics: kinematics and dynamics. Principles of thermodynamics: gas laws.

The link on Moodle to download materials will be provided during the first lesson

Physical quantities: units of measurement.
Kinematics: rectilinear motion, average and instantaneous velocity, average and instantaneous acceleration.
Dynamics: principles, force, work, potential and kinetic energy, power.
Thermodynamics: ideal gases and their laws.

Class lectures consisting of the presentation of the theoretical contents and of their possible applications, also using multimedia applications.

The detailed information (e.g. the Syllabus) will be available on Moodle platform, and it will be discussed during the first lesson Keywords: mechanics, thermodynamics.

Periodic questions to students to check learning status, conducted on Wooclap platform.

The written exam, lasting up to 30 minutes, generally consists of multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions. The questions have different weight on the final grade, depending on their level of difficulty. For this module, the grade is based on a 30-point scale, and students must obtain a sufficient grade (the minimum is 18).
