The National Prevention Plan 2020-2025 emphasises that the health emergency due to the COVID_-19 pandemic has shown that public health interventions are crucial for the economic and social development of a country, and that the health of all depends on the health of each. The main objective of the course is to explore the topics of health promotion, health education, health and therapeutic education: purposes, recipients, modalities and areas of intervention.
The following points will be addressed:
Methodological steps and tools, in order to build an educational project
Personalised educational strategies for patients and caregivers, in order to promote therapeutic adherence and self-care skills
Evaluation of the effectiveness of educational projects and sensitive outcomes of therapeutic education
Therapeutic education aimed at disease prevention, empowerment and self-management of chronic conditions, the adoption of healthy lifestyles and the promotion of the well-being of people of all ages, families and social groups.
These are all relevant and useful aspects for the nurse practitioner, in both community-based and in-hospital activities, so that thy ensure continuity of care and also the field of research.
An important part of the course will be dedicated to health education and communication as a necessary tool to face health emergencies and to deal with teamwork.
Communication is a strategic tool to increase knowledge and empowerment; to promote pro-health attitudes, to foster changes in social norms, access and adherence to prevention and treatment programmes, active citizen involvement (engagement). It can facilitate inter-institutional networking and collaboration between health and non-health organisations, support the population's trust in health institutions and contribute to the accountability of the health system. Communication is to be developed both as health communication and as communication for health, respectively aimed at the "mapping" and dissemination of health opportunities on the territory and at the production and sharing, within the community, of knowledge on health problems, by aiming at orientation, empowerment, awareness and motivation of people and support for decisions and policies. Like any other public health action, it needs to be adequately planned and evaluated in terms of its effects.
Interactive lectures with the aid of projections of Power Point or compatible files prepared by the lecturer. Exercises on exam problems.
Power point presentations, links to films and videos related to the teaching units can be found on the moodle@units and Microsoft Teams platforms
Written test integrated with the other teaching modules, face-to-face on the Moodle platform.
As far as this module is concerned, the test will consist of 4 closed-ended questions (multiple, categorization and ranking) and 2 open-ended questions (short summary answer). Each closed question provides a maximum score of 1 point, each open question a maximum score of 2 points, for a maximum total of 6 points. Evaluations to closed questions are assigned automatically by the Moodle platform and also include decimal points in case of partially correct answers. For open questions, the maximum score is assigned if the student demonstrates that he/she has acquired an excellent knowledge of the subject being treated and that he/she has answered exhaustively and with excellent language skills. A score lower than the maximum established for each question is also foreseen for open answers if the answer is incomplete, only partially correct and the argument is presented in a confused manner and with little or no language skills, 0 points if a student does not respond or does not demonstrate an acceptable knowledge of the contents. The maximum score obtainable for each open question can be viewed on the Moodle platform during the exam itself.
The content delves into topics related to goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
