Is part of:
Knowledge and understanding. Acquire knowledge about general psychopathology, the main psychiatric syndromes, fundamental elements related to the organization and legislation in mental health.
Applying knowledge and understanding. Be able to apply this knowledge about psychiatry to understand and recognize the main psychiatric disorders.
Making judgments. Be able to use the acquired knowledge to develop a personal judgment and decision making approach and an independent critical view of the themes proposed in the course. Be able to plan a proper nursing care.
Communicative skills. Be able to use a proper and appropriate technical-professional terminology to communicate health information effectively.
Learning skills. Prove to know the main themes of the course and to be able to prepare the Profit Exam by searching for availability, analyzing the contents and assessing the applicability of a guideline, based on the content of the lessons, and the sources suggested.
Prerequisite is to have acquired knowledge in the anatomy and physiology of the central nervous system; to have acquired skills in the care relationship.
No propaedeutics.

General Psychopathology and definition of psychiatric disorder (pragmatic approach: specific cluster of signs/symptoms, predefined duration, functional impairment).
Clinical features (specific signs and symptoms defining the psychiatric disorder), diagnostic criteria (DSM-5 criteria), onset and course characteristics, and brief knowledge on treatment (pharmacological, psychosocial and rehabilitative) of the principal psychiatric disorders:
Schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders (Schizophrenia, Delusional Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder)
Depressive (Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder/Dysthymia, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and bipolar disorders (Bipolar Disorder type I, type II, Cyclothymia).
Anxiety (Specific Phobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia, Panic, Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and trauma and stressor-related disorders (Acute Stress Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Adjustment Disorders)
Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Hoarding Disorder, Trichotillomania, Excoriation Disorder)
Feeding and Eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder)
Mental health legislation and organization (Italian Legge 180, Department of Mental Health, components of the DMH: SPDC, Community Mental Health Centers, etc.)
Lectures, case studies, video tools.

Written examination with both open and multiple choice questions; oral examination for those willing to improve the final vote.
Questions will concern the program and will be theoretical.
The final vote will be expressed in 30th (30 cum laude possible).
In order to pass the exam the student will have to demonstrate to have acquired the ability to identify the main psychiatric disorders and develop an appropriate nursing care plan. Verification of this knowledge will result from having answered to questions achieving a minimum score of 18/30. In order to access the oral exam the student must have passed the written exam with a minimum score of 18. During the oral exam the score of the written exam may undergo changes according to answers to the 2 oral questions.
