Other activities

On this page, you will find information about computer and telematic skills and activities that do not grant CFU but enrich your knowledge.

Computer and telematic skills

To obtain all the credits required for graduation, some curricula include the attainment of 3 CFU in computer and telematic skills. These are acquired by attending and passing the course specified in the Regulations, either Computer and Telematic Skills or IT Tools for Physics.

Credits may also be recognised based on appropriate certifications or attestations. To request recognition, you must submit an application with a revenue stamp to the Career Office, attaching documentation that includes a description of the activity carried out, the period in which it took place, and the number of hours completed.

Open badge

The Open Badge is a digital certificate that recognises disciplinary knowledge, personal skills and technical competences acquired.

The Department offers a thematic Open Badge in Scientific English for Physicists, aimed at:

  • Learning to use the specific technical English vocabulary of the sector
  • Understanding scientific articles and technical documentation
  • Communicating in technical-scientific environments, through public speaking or conference/corporate presentations

Seminars and Colloquia

There are two main categories of seminar activities organised by the Department of Physics:

  • Colloquia: These seminars are intended for Physics students of all levels and primarily serve an educational purpose, aiming to explain research activities across various fields of physics in a didactic manner. They typically take place once a month during teaching periods, in the afternoon. Included in this category is the Alumnorum Colloquia series, featuring talks given by former students of the Department who are now distinguished researchers at other institutions in Italy or abroad.
The committee responsible for organising the Alumnorum Colloquia is composed of Prof. Marisa Girardi, Prof. Giorgio Pastore, Prof. Rinaldo Rui.
  • Research Seminars: These are specialised scientific seminars, generally delivered by external researchers invited by the Department or within the framework of existing scientific collaborations with internal research groups.
The organisers of these seminars are Prof. Daniele Coslovich and Prof. Giacomo Contin.
