Syllabus

Knowledge of the main Cardiological disease, their pathophysiology and their complex interaction within the organism. - Assessment and management of patients with cardiovascular disease. Assessment of specific syndromes and signs (chest pain, dyspnea, fatigue, syncope) which may require multidisciplinary approach. - attention to translational research and to interrelationship of medical disciplines. - development of critical thinking and multi parametric approach to the patients.

Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and general pathophysiology

Will be delivered information to develop skills, knowledge and competences regarding cardiovascular disease. Clinical cases will be discussed.

Global and weighted anamnesis. Ischemic heart disease, angina and myocardial infarction. Mechanical complications of MI. Pericardial tamponade. Post-MI remodelling. Mitral, Tricuspid and Aortic regurgitation. Mitral and aortic Stenosis. Arrhythmias: diagnosis and treatment. Heart failure and cardiomyopathies. Pulmunary embolism. Myocarditis and Pericarditis. Endocarditis. Syncope. Sudden Cardiac Death and genetically-determined arrhythmic disorders. Aortic diseases. Basic principles of electrocardiogram. Biomarkers in cardiology. Principles of diagnosis and therapy in cardiology.
