Syllabus

D1-Knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of human nutrition in physiological and pathological conditions. The student will also know the main characteristics of spontaneous and artificial nutrition as listed in the ' Content ' section. D2-Ability to apply knowledge and understanding At the end of the course the student should be able to recognize clinical signs of malnutrition for excess or defect and ahould be able to apply the appropriate medical interventions to correct it. D3-Autonomy of judgement At the end of the course, the student will be able to make the differential diagnosis by analyzing and proposing different wherever possible aetiological hypotheses about a clinical case of malnutrition, which will be presented during the program. D4-Communication skills At the end of the course, the student will demonstrate the ability to expose the notions referred in point D1 D5-Learning ability At the end of the course, the student will demonstrate the ability to find and learn independently guidelines and literature on nutrition and diet therapy as pertaining within medical nutrition.

For a satisfactory understanding of the course contents it is necessary that the student has acquired the basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, general pathology, medical pathophysiology, microbiology, pharmacology and medical semiotics.

Candidates will be evaluated according to planned testing, potentially with partial tests that should be published with the appropriate «Partial test» tool in the Esse3 platform. Passing the final test will require a positive evaluation (≥ 18) in each partial test.
The final score is calculated as the average of single partial tests, taking into account the number of credits for each module. The “laude” will increase the test by 1 point. Average voting required for final “laude” score is >30,5.
Score scaling:
The test will allow to verify the overall knowledge on the topic.
The folloing parameters will be considered:
Score 29-30 e lode: the student has deep knowledge of the topic.
Score 26-28: the student has good knowledge of the topic.
Score 22-25: the student has acceptable knowledge of the topic.
Score 18-21: the student has minimal knowledge of the topic.
Not passed: the student has below minimal knowledge of the topic.
