Syllabus

Knowledge and understanding. At the end of the course, students should have acquired basic knowledge of forensic medicine, professional ethics and occupational medicine. D1. Knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, students should demonstrate knowledge of the rules, safety procedures and guidelines for professional speech therapy practice. At the end of the course, students will have acquired basic knowledge of bioethics and its applications in medical sciences. Students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills on the main issues of bioethics and biolaw and their impact on the practice of healthcare professionals. They will be able to understand preventive measures for occupational diseases and accidents. Learn: -the regulatory, cultural and scientific evolution of the speech therapist profession in Italy and internationally; -cultural, regulatory and organisational changes within the healthcare system and the concept of health itself in relation to speech therapy clinics; -the code of ethical conduct for speech therapists; -specific professional knowledge for the implementation of professional practice; -the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork and interaction with colleagues and other healthcare professionals; the main theories and tools of greatest scientific relevance for improving communication, motivation and group dynamics within the multidisciplinary team. D2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding. At the end of the course, students should be able to find, recognise and interpret a regulatory text and/or guideline for safety in speech therapy. At the end of the course, students should be able to apply the knowledge acquired in the development of critical thinking skills to the main issues of clinical ethics and propose their own reasoned view on bioethical issues in accordance with current legislation. In addition, students should be able to assess the limits of medical science as defined by constitutional rights. D3. Independent judgement At the end of the course, students should be able to analyse and propose choices for safety in healthcare. Students should be able to critically evaluate the knowledge they have acquired and their own limitations, and understand the importance of constantly updating their knowledge in the field of bioethics. Students must be able to develop their own point of view on the most controversial issues in bioethics. D4. Communication skills At the end of the course, students must demonstrate their ability to express their knowledge and understanding of safety in healthcare and bioethical issues, fluently explaining the concepts they have acquired. D5. Learning skills: At the end of the course, students should be able to independently explore the topics covered in greater depth and apply the knowledge they have acquired to subsequent courses. Students should be able to translate the knowledge they have acquired into improvements in clinical practice and the development of a culture of safety in healthcare and respect for patients' rights.

The teaching methods consist of frontal lessons with presentation via power point files and short videos

The evaluation of the student is carried out by means of partial tests (written and/or oral test, possible tests in progress in which questions concerning the course program are proposed), for each teaching part. Then the commission verifies the overall results of the integrated teaching.
The student must demonstrate that he has achieved the learning objectives of the course.
The exam score is attributed by means of a vote expressed out of thirty with possible honors if the weighted average is higher than 30.5.
In order to pass the examination for the integrated course, the student must obtain a mark of ≥ 18 in each of the partial examinations. The final mark for the integrated course examination is derived from the weighted average, thus weighted on the University Credits of each module, obtained in the partial tests.

In order to obtain the certificate for specific training in occupational health and safety (Legislative Decree 81/2008), at least 70% of the questions must be answered correctly.
