Syllabus

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: achieve adequate knowledge of pathophysiology for the management of the urological patient in hospital and outpatient clinic. Understand the main therapeutic procedures performed and the rationale for post-treatment assistance.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
be able to apply the acquired knowledge, as a solid foundation for learning related disciplines.

MAKING JUDGMENTS: acquire an adequate capacity for critical elaboration of the correlations between pathologies and clinical signs and symptoms.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: the acquisition of adequate biomedical terminology is essential for interfacing within the biomedical scientific community.

LEARNING SKILLS: the study of Pathophysiology and Urological Pathology is essential in the training of a graduate in Nursing Sciences.

Adequate knowledge of Pathology and Anatomy and Nursing

Notions of Anatomy and Pathophysiology of the urinary tract and male genitals with notes on fertility and sexual function.
Semeiotics and urological pathology of urological tumors and urinary obstruction. Role of the nurse in the recognition of the main urological clinical signs.

Notions of Anatomy and Physiology of the urinary and male genital tract with notes on fertility and sexual function.
Urological semeiotics and the role of the nurse in the recognition of clinical signs: oliguria, anuria, hematuria (microsocpic, macroscopic), polyuria, nocturia, urinary retention, bladder tamponade, urethrosis, acute and chronic renal failure.

Urinary obstruction, prostatic hypertrophy and bladder catheterization.
Instrumental diagnostics in Urology: Notions of surgical and endoscopic instruments, sutures, needles, bladder and ureteral catheters, ureteral stents. Ppemanent and intermittent bladder catheterization. Complications related to catheterization. Monitoring after catheter removal.
Urinary tract infections. Urinary calculosis. Kidney tumors and surgical therapy
Phimosis, paraphimosis

Urological tumors

Internal and external urinary derivations (uretero-cutaneous-stoma, ileal-conduit, orthotopic ileal reservoir).

ORAL EXAMINATION
Through an oral exam with 3 open questions (one of which chosen by the candidate for a total duration of about 15-20 minutes. Through the interview, on one of the topics of the program the student's ability will be verified to identify the main clinical manifestations of pathologies of surgical interest, the knowledge and understanding of the therapeutic diagnostic procedure The evaluation grid adopted is as follows: - Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): excellent knowledge of the subjects, excellent property of language, excellent analytical skills; the student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Very good (27 - 29): good knowledge of the topics, remarkable language skills, good analytical skills; he/she the student is able to correctly apply the theoretical knowledge to concrete cases - Good (24-26): good knowledge of the main topics, good command of the language; the student shows an adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main subjects of the teaching, even if he/she possesses the fundamental knowledge; however, she shows satisfactory language skills and sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main teaching topics and technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Insufficient: the student does not have an acceptable knowledge of the contents of the different topics of the program

WRITTEN EXAM
Written test consisting of 33 multiple choice questions. Duration of the test 45 minutes. The final vote is expressed out of thirty according to the following criteria: 1 point for each correct answer, honors if at least 32 correct answers.
