Structured into the following modules:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: At the end of the Integrated Course the student will be able to know the epidemiology of the main disabling pathologies; understand and know the biological, social, demographic, environmental and cultural factors that can generate disability and influence the overall state of health; know the fundamental principles of the global assessment of the person (multidimensional assessment), and understand the purposes of formulating the individual care plan. They will know the main pathologies of internal and infectious disease interest with the epidemiological and nursing care implications. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: will have developed the ability to apply knowledge and understanding and will have acquired the elements to be able to apply the tools to be implemented in the network of services for people with chronic diseases and disabilities according to their judgment. They will have acquired the ability to apply and know the main internal medicine diseases and infectious diseases. Furthermore, he/she will have acquired knowledge and understanding of common disabling syndromes, with their anatomical-functional bases and clinical-symptomatological pictures. He will be able to describe the etiopathogenesis, the clinical picture and the principles of treatment and healthcare support - medical, nursing, rehabilitation - of the most common acute and chronic diseases, with particular reference to cardio-vascular, cerebro-vascular, neuro -degenerative, neuro-inflammatory. INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: the student will be able to apply the knowledge acquired and correlate the knowledge acquired with related disciplines: geriatrics, internal medicine and infectious diseases, having developed his or her own independent judgment in describing the fundamental principles of care for internal medicine patients and geriatrics, even those in terminal conditions, and will have developed a COMMUNICATION SKILL capable of integrating nursing skills with those of other figures involved in geriatric care, support and treatment of disabilities. In its global contents, the teaching allows the acquisition of fundamental skills for the management of clinical-care, internal, infectious diseases and geriatric problems, paying attention both to the social and cultural changes of the population and to the specific phases of nursing care management.
The course provides the theoretical knowledge useful for planning safe nursing care based on scientific evidence, developing autonomy of judgment in relation to the scientific evidence learned, developing the student's communication skills, as well as acquiring
The prerequisites to pass the integrated exam are to have passed the exams of the first year of the course, including the professional teachings, and the barriers foreseen by the course of studies, and the preparatory aspects. Preparatory teaching for the “Internship activities and cognitive tutoring 2”.
The course integrated the clinical bases concerning the main pathologies of the adult for pathologies of internal interest. The physiopathology and clinical principles of the main diseases of the cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine and hematopoietic systems will be addressed. Pathologies of the respiratory and renal emunctory systems will also be treated. In particular, clinical problems likely to be of interest will be explored in depth due to the implications connected with the role of nursing care. The elements of pathophysiology of the main internal medicine pathologies will be studied in depth. In the Clinical Nursing module of the medical area, the aspects related to the patient with ischemic heart disease will be carried out
and with congestive heart failure. The nursing aspects of the patient will be carried out
with acute neurological pathology and with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke as well as with acute respiratory pathology, diabetes mellitus and chronic liver disease.
In the infectious diseases module, the main aspects of infectious diseases in immunocompetent and immunosuppressed patients, epidemiology of infections, risk factors, transmission routes and diagnostic principles will be covered. Sepsis, community and hospital infections, meningitis, encephalitis, viral hepatitis and mononucleosis syndromes will be treated; HIV and AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis. The main elements of the biology and pathophysiology of aging will be covered in the Geriatrics module. The multidimensional geriatric assessment will be carried out, the concept of frailty and disability. The hospital and territorial facilities and services available for the care of the elderly. The clinical part will deal with the topics of
-Cardiovascular pathology in the elderly, cerebrovascular pathology: stroke, acute phase and long-term consequences, dementia, delirium, depression and Parkinson's disease in the elderly; specificity of the symptoms and complications and peculiarities of the treatment.
The concepts of how to develop knowledge regarding the identification and nursing care of geriatric syndromes will be explored in depth, communicating objectives and actions useful for achieving the expected target to all the professional figures involved in managing the user's health.

Lectures, with classroom discussion of clinical cases. Simulation of geriatric, internal medicine and infectious disease problems and group and individual discussion on clinical, organizational and healthcare aspects. The course aims to stimulate knowledge and improve understanding of geriatric care processes, stressing the most relevant aspects in relation to the expected results and the times necessary to achieve them. During the course, the student is encouraged to develop autonomy of judgment with respect to the topics treated, the collaborative capacity with the other professional figures involved, the expected results in the application of the treatments. scientific articles and Power Points will be given to students. (available on the Moodle platform).
The power point presentations relating to the teaching units will be available on the moodle@units and Microsoft Teams IT platforms
Learning will be verified through exams in written and/or oral form. All individual partial tests relating to each course must be passed to pass the course. The final evaluation of the course derives from the average of the individual scores of each integrated course weighted by the credits of each course. Partial tests are scheduled in written and/or oral form.
The partial test (written or oral) is considered passed if the score is greater than or equal to 18/30. Scores lower than 18/30 are considered insufficient and must therefore be repeated.
The WRITTEN partial tests are carried out using open or multiple choice questions, relating to the program carried out and the learning aspects, in which the candidate must have developed an ability to judge, plan interventions and communicate to the other professionals involved in assisting the expected objectives.
The duration of the test is 1 hour. The final grade is expressed in thirtieths according to the following criteria: for open-ended questions 2 points for each correct open-ended answer, 1 point for each answer that is sufficient but not completely exhaustive, 0 points if wrong or missing answer, 1 additional point for each open-ended answer if the student shows that he/she has acquired an excellent knowledge of the subject matter and has answered comprehensively and with excellent language property. For multiple-choice tests, 33 questions with a single correct answer are considered to which one (1) point is awarded for each correct answer and zero (0) for each incorrect answer. The final result is the mathematical sum of the answers given.
The ORAL examination consists of 2 open questions related to the main topics covered in the course.
The duration is approximately 15-20 minutes. Through the interview, on one of the program topics, the student's ability to identify the main clinical manifestations of diseases of geriatric interest will be tested. The evaluation grid adopted is as follows: - Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): very good knowledge of the topics, very good ownership of language, very good analytical ability; Good (24-26): good knowledge of main topics, fair ownership of language; Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main topics of the teaching, although possessing the fundamental knowledge. Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main topics of the teaching and technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Insufficient: the student does not possess acceptable knowledge of the content of the various topics of the program.
To achieve the maximum score, he or she must have responded in a comprehensive manner and must possess knowledge of the topics covered, and have developed an ability to link common aspects of the various diseases and also demonstrate critical judgment and analytical skills. The student also must have developed excellent communication skills with other professionals with whom he or she must interact.
This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
