Tutors: Who they are and what they do
During the first year, students are guided and supported by tutors (young PhD candidates or Master's degree students). The organised tutoring focuses on students’ needs rather than individual courses. It is conducted in small groups, with schedules and classrooms agreed upon with the tutor, and includes exercises in physics and mathematics.
The main goal is to support you in adapting to university teaching, helping you develop the most effective study method. During the sessions, you will have the opportunity to assess your gradual adjustment to the new academic environment.
Help desk for aspiring physicists
This space is dedicated to all physics students who have ever asked themselves: “Is this path really for me? What should I do if I don't pass an exam on the first try? How can I organise myself for the session without going crazy? Is it worth continuing with a Master's degree?”
The help desk is an informal, relaxed, and open space for everyone, where there is no judgement – only listening and support. Here, you will find a PhD student from our department, who has personally experienced the difficulties and challenges of this university path, ready to share advice, tips, and offer a perspective of hope and motivation.
Timetable and access
Every Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM in room T23, on the ground floor of the department. It is also possible to email the PhD student Teresa Zio (teresa.zio@phd.units.it) to schedule an appointment at another time.
