The course aims to provide students the following knowledges and skills:
D1. Knowledge and understanding. At the end of the course, students will learn basic theoretical and practical references related to issues, dimensions and plan areas related to design and sustainable management topics connected to space, environmental resources and landscape.
D2. Applying knowledge and understanding. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply knowledges acquired in point 1, with particular attention to the tools for the investigation of the principles of sustainable design, assessment and control of environmental impacts and certification of complex environmental systems, in order to achieve the construction of enhancement scenarios for urban regeneration.
D3. Making judgments. By the end of the course, students will be able to work out on their own about analysis, evaluation, selection and control of
the results related to plan solutions' decisions and environmental impacts' control in a dynamic time dimension, using the different analytical techniques examined during the course.
D4. Communication skills. By the end of the course, students will be able to make up their own opinions; explain and clearly apply the concepts, tools and analysis, evaluation and control models, acquired in points 1 and 2.
D5. Learning skills. By the end of the course, students will be able to examine and debate on their own all the topics covered in the course, also by consulting specific bibliography and site texts and making up both institutional and regulatory framework and technical in-depth analysis of interest.
It is a prerequisite having attended the preparatory Laboratories to the Integrated Design Laboratory, as requested from the Degree Course Guidelines.
The course, connected with the Architecture and Buildings Integrated Design Laboratory - RRR International Lab program's contents, precisely will deal with the following topics: 1. Theoretical overview of the environmental assessment topic: - the space concept - environment and landscape: space resources and actions - sustainability of resources: theoretical reference approach - urban sustainability: resilience and resistance; representation of sustainability - the antifragile city 2. Landscape and urban space: elements, characters and relationships; 3. The organization of space: reflections on the subject of the limit; 4. Sustainable design and environmental issues; 5. Innovation and involvement in building the decision-making process (linked to territorial use plans and instruments) and ex-ante, in-and-out Evaluation: the SWOT Analysis tool; 6. Urban environmental impact management: analysis, evaluation, action and control; 7. Impact Assessment Techniques: Methodologies, Setting, Logical/Operational Structure and Functioning of Instruments: -Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)) -Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) 8. Territorial diagnosis tools as support for integrated decision-making and projects actions scenery strategies in the urban and built.

The course will take place through frontal lessons and seminar meetings planned with the presence of scholars and external experts in the field, with discussion and classroom computation according to the following structure:

The test for the Environmental Assessment and Landscape Management course is an integral part of the Laboratory exam. The exam will take place by the presentation of the graphic and written works produced by each group during the workshop and a contemporary interview on the theoretical disciplinary themes related to the plan, treated during the lessons and deepened with the reading of some texts of the general bibliography and that suggested from time to time in class. The check of learning will take place through an exam consisting of an individual interview with open questions. The final evaluation will be based on 2/3 on the plan and 1/3 on the theoretical preparation. The final vote is expressed in thirtieths.
This teaching contributes to the realization of the UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
