Syllabus

1) Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course the student will have to acquire the main notions in the fields of EU labor law. The student must demonstrate knowledge of the EU legal framework concerning Institutions, sources of law, way of decisions, role of the ECJ.
2) Ability to apply knowledge and skills: At the end of the course the student will be able to find, recognize and interpret a normative text on the subjects studied,
3) Autonomy of judgment: At the end of the course the student will have to be able to analyze and discuss different possible interpretative options of doctrine and jurisprudence.
4) Communication Skills: At the end of the course the student will have to prove that he or she is able to expose the acquired knowledge referred to in point 1) with accuracy and language skills.
5) Ability to learn: At the end of the course the student must be able to find and understand autonomously the jurisprudential guidelines as well as the subsequent normative updating of the subject matter.

The passing of the examination of Labor Law is not a prerequisite, but it is strongly recommended

The Course will be divided into two parts. An introductory part will be devoted to the study of the main actions of EU labor law on trade union and labor law institutes (freedom of movement for workers and social security, hygiene and work safety, equal treatment and equal opportunities; harmonization of labor legislation in the EU Member States). The second part will be devoted to the study of the theme of European social dialogue, with particular reference to the prospects of collective supranational bargaining.

The Course will be divided into two parts. The course will consist of three-quarters of front-page lessons and a quarter of seminars and case law exercises.

The program is the same for attending and non-attending students.

The examination is oral and consists of three questions, one of a general nature and two on more specific profiles of the subjects. The score of the test consists of a grade expressed in thirtieth, calculated on the basis of the quality of the answers given by the candidate. The exam is passed with a minimum score of 18/30. The student must demonstrate that he/she have acquired sufficient knowledge of the topics covered by the Course program. To achieve the maximum score (30/30 and praise), the student must instead demonstrate that he/she have acquired an excellent knowledge of the topics covered by the questions formulated during the exam.
