Knowledge and understanding The objective of this course is to provide a basic training on medical US, with emphasis of the multiparametric approach, and on the main clinical application of ultrasonography Applying knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, the student must be able to apply the knowledge acquired in the field of ultrasound imaging and the main clinical applications of ultrasound. Making judgements At the end of the course, students must demonstrate that they have not only acquired knowledge of the concepts but also be able to apply them appropriately. Communication skills At the end of the course, students have to be able to express themselves in an appropriate way through the specific terminology acquired with the lessons provided in teaching material and/or the reference text Learning skills At the end of the course, students must demonstrate that they are able to apply the minimum knowledge, skills and competences described in this Syllabus

Basic knowledge of human anatomy and of diagnostic imaging techniques

Physics of ultrasound Equipment and probes Formation of the US image B-mode US Doppler modes Elastographic modes CEUS Advanced and experimental US modes Clinical indications for US imaging

Carla Serra, Cristina Felicani Ecografia in medicina interna. Testo-atlante Piccin-Nuova Libraria, 2021

during the course will be treated and deepened the following topics: Physics of ultrasound Equipment and probes Formation of the US image B-mode US Doppler modes Elastographic modes CEUS Advanced and experimental US modes Clinical indications for US imaging

Frontal teaching, practice, simulations

In the building of the simulators and US simulator is available, as well as an US equipment with Doppler imaging facilities

Evaluation consists in an oral examination of 15-20 minutes in which the knowledge of the student is assessed as regards physics of ultrasound, US imaging, multiparametric US, and main indications for clinical US imaging. The score of the exam is awarded by a grade expressed in thirtieth. To pass the exam (18/30) the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired and understood the characteristics of the physics of ultrasound, ultrasound imaging and the different techniques and clinical indications of ultrasound. To achieve the maximum score (30/30 cum laude) the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course. In the case of a vote of 30/30 a maximum of one point may be awarded for obtaining praise. The evaluation grid adopted is as follows: - Excellent (30 - 30 and praise): the student shows excellent knowledge of arguments, excellent language properties, excellent analytical ability; the student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to. concrete cases. - Very good (27 - 29): the student shows good knowledge of subjects, remarkable language properties, good analytical ability; the student is able to correctly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Good (24-26): the student shows good knowledge of the major topics, discrete language properties; the student shows a adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main subjects of teaching, while possessing the knowledge fundamental; it nevertheless shows satisfactory properties of language and. sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Sufficient (18-20): the student shows minimal knowledge of main subjects of teaching and technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to cases concrete. - Insufficient: the student does not have an acceptable knowledge of the contents of the different topics of the programme.

This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
