Capability to apply knowledge and understanding
The student will have to demonstrate knowledge and individual
evaluation of gastroenteric pathologies and also demonstrate
understanding of physiopathology principles, epidemiology, clinical
course, diagnostic tools and treatment foundations
Independent assessment
The students will have to express ability to apply their learning
demonstrating to speculate according to the specific logic of the subject.
He/she will have to by able to identify functional correlation between
different organs and to summarise the information to the chosen organ At the end of the course, students have to acquire communication and argumentative skills appropriate to the context (specialist and non-specialist scientific field), strengthening and encouraging the ability to refer both to colleagues and experts, both to the general population
Minimum prerequisites to successfully complete the course are a good
understanding of anatomical and physio pathological principles of gastro
enteric apparatus
Oesophageal, gastric, intestinal, pancreatic and hepatic physio pathologies In particular during lessons: Introduction, liver function tests, jaundice, liver biopsy pro and cons Natural history of chronic liver disease Non alcoholic fatty liver disease (LC) Viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, sclerosing colangitits Benign and malign patology of biliary tract Cirrhosis e hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) Esophagitis, esophageal dismotility, esophageal cancer, gastritis, gastric cancer Non infective colitis IBS IBD Diverticulosis and diverticulitis Caeliac disease and small bowel disease, food allergies and intolerances Pancreatic cancer Acute and chronic pancreatitis Role of the microbiota in gastroenterological disease

There will be a single, integrated examination for the entire course of physiopathology, with a written part held via the moodle platform first (10 multiple-choice questions on gastroenterology) and then an oral part. To be admitted to the oral part, it is necessary to have answered correctly to 60% of the questions and 60% of the topics. The oral exam will last 30 minutes and there will be 3 questions. As for the contents of this couse, there will be one oral question on one of the associations (10 minutes). Final score will be converted to a maximum of 30 points.
The grading system applied is:
(18-24): sufficient or fair knowledge of the subject, adequate mastery of the technical language
(25-27): good or very good knowledge of the subject, technical language proficiency, essential
ability to connect the themes addressed during the course
(28-30 with honours): excellent knowledge of the subject and technical language proficiency,
autonomous critical and analytical skills, and ability to apply acquired knowledge to concrete
scenarios
