Syllabus

In this course students will achieve a good understanding of eucariotic cell structure and human tissue differentiation and morphology. They will be able to know in particular the organogenesis of face, mouth and tooth, mineralized tissues 8enamel,dentine, cementum) dental pulp, gingival mucose membrane, periodontium. Students also will achieve a good understanding of the major homeostatic mechanisms of the human body and the relationships between structure and function and will, in particular, be able to solve simple problems relating to functional operations of the nervous system. As regards the stomatognathic apparatus, they will know the dynamics and the regulation of salivary secretion, the chewing and swallowing. For the anatomy students will achieve a a good knowledge of the human body, in particular of the cervico-cephalic region and of the stomatognathic apparatus.Students will achieve a good understanding of the major homeostatic mechanisms of the human body and the relationships between structure and function and will, in particular, be able to solve simple problems relating to functional operations of the nervous system. As regards the stomatognathic apparatus, they will know the dynamics and the regulation of salivary secretion, the chewing and swallowing. In particular: Knowledge and understanding: understanding histology and ultrastructure of cells by the use of image and practice practical activities. Applying knowledge and understanding: applying knowledge commenting histology images Making judgements and communication skills: Capacity to discuss on histology tissues by the use of clinical case solving. Learning skills: Talking about human histology during practice practical activity.

cytology is necessary to understand histology

The Module of Histology aims to provide students with knowledge about the cell and its components (plasmalemma, cellular organelles as well as the main tissues with particular reference to those of the oral cavity and salivary glands.

For histology: Istologia per le professioni sanitarie. Sica ed altri.. Casa editrice Sorbona.

For the Histology: Eucariotic cell structure, cellular organelles: morphology and function. Epithelial tissue. Exocrine and endocrine tissue.Connective tissue.Cartilagineous tissue. Bone tissue.Lymphatic tissue and lymphoid system. Hemopoietic tissue and blood. Muscular tissue. Nervous tissue. Odontogenesis.Mineralized tissues and mineralization. The tooth: enamel, dentine and cementum. Dental pulp.Periodontium:gingival mucose membrane,gingiva-dentine ligamentum, periodontal ligamentum, alveolar bone. The tongue.

Frontal unit will be supported by histology slides and image. Lessons as powerpoint file and recorded lessons will be provide to student by the use of Moodle facility

The informations and the facilities are insert inside Moodle System and are provide during practice practical activities

Students could be use the powerpoint presentation ( ex cattedra lessons) by the access on moodle/Teams platform Grading of grades: The test allows to verify: I) the level of knowledge of the subject; II) the expository clarity; III) the property of medical-scientific language. The following parameters will be taken into account for the allocation of the final vote: Grade 29-30 and praise: the student has a THOROUGH knowledge of the subject, excellent communication skills and masters the medical-scientific language.Grade 26-28: the student has a GOOD knowledge of the subject and explains the topics clearly using appropriate medical-scientific language; Grade 22-25: the student has a DECENT knowledge of the subject, even if limited to the main topics and exposes the arguments quite clearly with a fair property of language; Grade 18-21: the student has the MINIMUM knowledge of the subject and exposes the arguments in a sufficiently clear manner although the language property is not well developed; Failure to pass: the student DOES NOT HAVE THE MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE required of the main contents of the course. The ability to use the specific language is very low or non-existent and he is not able to apply the acquired knowledge independently

This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
