The aim of the course is to show the characteristics of the treatments for patients affected by periodontal pathologies and belonging to specific categories.
The student must know the basilar notions of human physiology and pathology related to the stomatognathic system. Furthermore, the student has to know the notions regarding the oral hygiene treatment of patients affected by gingivitis and periodontitis.
The course provides the notions on the oral hygiene treatments applied to patients belonging to specific categories.
COURSE PROGRAM:
•Orthodontic patient: characteristics and therapeutic protocol
• Epileptic patient: meaning, characteristics and operative protocol
• Patient in pregnancy: oral manifestations during pregnancy, personalized protocol, fluoride in pregnancy.
• Patient with eating disorders: oral manifestations, the role of the dental hygienist
• Smoker patient: systemic damage, oral cancer, influences on periodontal disease
and implant treatment failure, the role of the dental hygienist, professional protocols, instructions of oral hygiene
• Patient affected by alcoholism: alcohol and oral diseases, the role of the hygienist, personalized therapeutic protocols
• Patient treated with radio/chemotherapy: oral manifestations, customized operative protocols
• Patient undergoing oral surgery: recommendations of oral hygiene at home
• Patient with infective pathologies, COVID-19 pandemic situation, preventive and operative professional protocols
• Pedodontic patient
• Autistic patient
• Patient affected by cardiocirculatory diseases
