Head of Professional Training Activities
The role of the Head of Professional Training Activities (RAFP) involves planning and managing internship and professional training activities, ensuring their integration into the study programme and their alignment with the competencies required by the professional profile and the Regional Health System (SSR). This includes organising and coordinating training activities, selecting qualified tutors, and choosing suitable internship locations.
Continuous monitoring of internship quality is ensured through ongoing and final evaluation systems, identifying areas for improvement. Additionally, effective tutorial models are developed to provide students with high-level training experiences.
Collaboration with the Professional Services Directorates of the Regional Health System (SSR) and affiliated institutions is essential to determine the number of students that can be hosted, the necessary tutors, and the training needs. Furthermore, initiatives are promoted to support incoming orientation, evaluate students’ experiences, and facilitate post-graduate employment opportunities.
Student safety during internships is prioritised by verifying required prerequisites and assessing their eligibility for internship examinations. At the same time, continuous training programmes for academic and internship tutors are developed in collaboration with SSR training centres.
Finally, the RAFP manages the resources allocated to the course, implementing a documentation and monitoring system for activities. Pedagogical research is also encouraged to improve teaching methodologies, and in three-year degree courses, the RAFP takes part in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of academic tutors.
Academic Tutors
The Academic Tutor plays a key role in teaching, support, and research, ensuring qualified assistance to students in compliance with the degree course regulations.
They are responsible for managing specific professional areas within SSR structures and affiliated locations, maintaining up-to-date competencies, and contributing to quality improvement programmes. Additionally, they design and implement tutoring strategies to develop students’ technical and transversal skills during internships.
Academic Tutors supervise the professional learning process, assessing the competencies acquired by students together with the Internship Tutor. They foster collaboration between the university and professional institutions, creating an effective integration between theory and practice.
They engage in research on professional and educational topics, applying findings to improve training. Finally, they actively participate in self-assessment and accreditation processes to ensure the quality of the degree programme and students’ educational success.
Activities
To ensure effective organisation and high-quality practical training, each degree course includes the role of Head of Professional Training Activities (RAFP). This position combines teaching and organisational skills, ensuring the proper conduct of practical and internship activities and assessing their effectiveness.
To support student training, the Academic Tutor is also appointed. This key figure combines specific professional expertise (in care, rehabilitation, technical, or preventive fields) with teaching skills. The Tutor assists students both at the university and in professional settings, contributing to their skills development and collaborating with the RAFP to ensure comprehensive preparation.
In the Physiotherapy degree course, in addition to the tasks outlined in the protocols, the RAFP and Academic Tutors actively participate in clinical, teaching, and research activities within the Teaching Gym, working directly with students to provide a more hands-on and applied training experience.
